SASE and SD-WAN transformation for national retail

Client profile
Australian retail company with over 120 offices and stores in Asia.
The challenge
The client envisions a cloud-based architecture for network and security, using an internet primary underlay to replace the existing single-vendor MPLS, and implementing SASE nodes for remote access. The challenge is balancing the implementation of a Cloud-first approach while prioritising security.
Client needs
-
Ensuring robust security measures are in place to protect data and applications in the cloud.
-
Maintaining consistent network performance and reliability during and after the transition.
-
Training IT staff on new technologies and processes to bridge any skill gaps.
-
Ensuring a smooth user experience and effective communication with stakeholders throughout the process.
Our responsibilities
Representing a technology provider, Cavell Group worked closely with the client to detail the target design and migration plans by:
-
Leading vendor technical sales efforts and deliver successful production POCs
-
Architecting and designing a single vendor SASE
-
Designing SSE security including Secure Web Gateway, Cloud Access Security Broker and ZTNA VPN

The outcome
-
Successful transition from an MPLS managed service and on-prem security to a flexible cloud-based network and security architecture.
-
Significant savings with WAN cost reduction (mainly from MPLS to internet underlay transition) while increasing capacity and maintaining service levels.
-
Migration to a single vendor SASE with unified management and single pane of glass for Network operated by a small team, who were trained and capable of managing 120+ SD-WAN sites and over 1000 remote users.
